Finance formulas

I will quote my finance lecturer. Today he was explaining rather complex formulas about exchange rates. Most of the class was lost. Seeing that his time is up, he silently said in a friendly tone:

"These formulas you have to know. Learn them by heart, if necessary; understand, if possible".

The quote reveales a good deal about students in the class and their understanding of the subject.
